Heels Hold Final Preseason Scrimmage On Monday

Chapel Hill, NC -- The Blue squad jumped out to a 5-1 lead and held on for a 5-4 win in the final full, preseason scrimmage on Monday afternoon at a misty Boshamer Stadium.
Joey Lancellotti and Brandon Martorano both homered to lead all players at the plate. Lancellotti was 2-2 with four RBI and one run scored, while Martorano was 2-3 with two RBI and one run scored. Clemente Inclan and Dallas Tessar, with two hits apiece, were the only other players with multiple base hits. Kyle Datres, Ike Freeman and Brandon Riley each doubled.
Caden O'Brien and Cooper Criswell were the two starters. Angel Zarate, Brett Daniels, Bo Weiss, Taylor Sugg, Trevor Gay and Austin Love threw in relief.
The Tar Heels will open the 2018 season this Friday at 7:00 p.m. against South Florida in Tampa, Fla. Carolina's home opener is at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20 against UNCW.Â
