CHAPEL HILL—Ela Hazar had a career-high eight points to lead fourth-ranked North Carolina (5-2) to a 12-1 win over Elon (0-6) on Tuesday afternoon.

Hazar had three goals and tied her career high with five assists to move into second place in UNC history in assists. Hazar has 90 career assists, passing Sydney Holman (86) for second place in school history behind Becky Lynch (92). Hazar also had five assists in a 2017 regular season win over Virginia.

The victory, Carolina's second in a row, improved the Tar Heels to 5-2 this season. Elon fell to 0-6.

Marie McCool and Katie Hoeg each had three goals and one assist for the Tar Heels, with McCool adding five draw controls. Jamie Ortega had a goal and an assist, Kara Klages and Ally Mastroianni each scored once and Charlotte Sofield had an assist.

Stephanie Asher scored for the Phoenix.

"It was a good team win today," Carolina head coach Jenny Levy said afterward. "We are happy with the progress our defense is making and look forward to continuing to improve. We will enjoy this today and get back to work tomorrow."

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Elon, N.C., but was moved to Chapel Hill due to wet field conditions. The Tar Heels and Phoenix played at the Finley Fields complex in Chapel Hill.

Carolina scored just over a minute into the game on a McCool free position shot, then went on a 4-0 run in less than three minutes to lead 5-0 midway through the first half.

It was 9-0 at halftime, and the Tar Heels eventually led 12-0 before Elon scored with 11:51 to play in the second half.

Carolina outshot Elon, 26-21, and won 11 of 15 draws in the game led by McCool's five.

The Tar Heels will return to action on Saturday at Northwestern.
