Lane Named EAGL Scholar of the Year

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Senior Morgan Lane was named the 2018 EAGL Scholar of the Year on Monday, March 26th for her success outside of the gym.
The chemistry major and biology minor maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.864 including a 3.918 in the Fall of 2017. She was recently inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, she is a three time NACGC/W Scholastics All-America and a four time EAGL All-Academic Honoree. She will be recognized for the fourth time as an NACGC/W Scholastic All-America in the summer of 2018.
At the 2018 EAGL Championship, Lane finished 2nd in three of her five individual competitions (beam, floor, all-around). She matched her career-high score of 9.925 on floor exercise, earned another score of 9.925 on beam, and totaled 39.375 in the all-around with scores of 9.725 on bars and 9.800 on vault.
The senior never earned less than 39.000 in each of her all-around appearances and matched each of her career-high scores at least once this season. She also set a new all-around personal record of 39.550 to become the fifth highest ranked gymnast in the all-around competition in Carolina's program history.
