Ramsey, Wike Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Carolina's Kiani Ramsey and Taylor Wike were named to the NFCA's Division I Southeast all-region teams as announced Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Ramsey was named to the All-Region second team while Wike picked up third-team honors for the second consecutive year.

Leading the team with a .374 average, Kiani Ramsey logged a team-best 58 hits with three doubles, two triples and a home run vs. Virginia Tech. The Portland, Texas native recorded six multi-hit games and two-multi-RBI games, including a five-RBI outing vs. Virginia Tech on her first career home run. Ramsey drew 16 walks with a single-game high of three at Notre Dame where she later came around to score the winning run in the rubber game. Ramsey swiped 17 bases – the third most, including two at Notre Dame. Defensively, Ramsey tallied 68 putouts and five assist from centerfield.

Starting all 56 games for the Tar Heels, Taylor Wike led the Tar Heels with 58 hits and a .458 on-base percentage thanks to 25 walks, becoming the program's new career walks record holder with 122. With 58 hits in 154 at-bats, the four-time all-ACC selection hit .354 in 2018 and .355 on her career to rank sixth all-time. Leading the team, Wike drove in 34 runs on nine doubles, eight home runs and three triples. The senior ranked second on the team with 20 stolen bases to total 52 in her career and rank in the top-10 in program history. Additionally, the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year logged 84 outs, assisting 98 while turning a team-best nine double plays.
