Tar Heels Represented at Women's College World Series

OKLAHOMA CITY – On the eve of the 2018 Women's College World Series, North Carolina is well represented with four former Tar Heels at college softball's grandest stage in Oklahoma City.

Recent alumna, Kristen Brown and Kendra Lynch are on the coaching staffs of WCWS participants Florida and Florida State, respectively. Former Carolina assistant coach Tony Baldwin is the associate head coach of seventh-seeded Georgia. Lastly, former player and assistant Megan Smith is the current head coach of Kansas and serves on the NCAA committee at the WCWS. Â

Two-time all-American Kristen Brown '16 is a graduate assistant manager at Florida, who is advancing its sixth WCWS appearance in the past seven seasons. USA Softball Player of the Year finalist Kendra Lynch '17 serves as a volunteer assistant coach at the lone ACC program, Florida State.

Former assistant coach Tony Baldwin worked on head coach Donna J. Papa's staff for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, working with the Tar Heel's infielders and hitters. The Bulldogs defeated Tennessee in extra innings to advance to their fourth Women's College World Series appearance in program history.

Former player and assistant coach Megan Smith '99 Â was a third baseman and team captain during her playing tenure before returning as an assistant coach for the 2004 season. The current Kansas head coach is on the NCAA Committee at the WCWS.
