Four Corners: Summer Looms

CHAPEL HILL—Students at the University of North Carolina are wrapping up their spring semester final exams this week, putting the finishing touches on the 2017-18 academic year. At the Smith Center, former Tar Heel players now playing professionally have started to trickle back for pickup games, offseason training and workouts in the weight room with strength and conditioning coordinator Jonas Sahratian.

While things are quieter on the Carolina Basketball front as the temperatures rise, here's some of the Tar Heel news that may have slipped through the cracks of late.

1. NEWS & NOTES
• Tar Heel legend Phil Ford is scheduled to deliver a pair of basketball workshops in Chapel Hill on Saturday. Chapelboro.com has more information.

• The latest Carolina Insider podcast interviews former athletic director Dick Baddour, who comments on how Roy Williams' work ethic has helped make him successful:

• Joel Berry II wrote a column for The Players' Tribune this week, reflecting on his time at UNC and how he'll always be a Tar Heel: Thank You, Carolina.

• In case you missed the news, rising senior Luke Maye has declared for the NBA Draft process but not signed with an agent.

3. 2018-19 SEASON TIDBITS
• Sports Illustrated posted a story on how the Tar Heels would have much to gain in 2018-19 if Maye returns to school for his final college season.

• SI also called Carolina one of the winners of the 2018 recruiting cycle.

• C. Jackson Cowart wrote a nice profile on the making of Danny Green for UNC's website.

• Tar Heel 1993 national champion and former NBA player George Lynch has taken over as the new head coach at Clark Atlanta University after a year coaching in the G League.

• The Hornets' website posted a recap of Marvin Williams' efficient 2017-18 season.
