Taylor Spears Accepts Assistant Coach Position at Arizona
May 8, 2018 | Women's Gymnastics
After one season as an assistant coach to Derek Galvin and the Tar Heel gymnastics team, former NCAA National Champion Taylor Spears has been announced as a new assistant coach at the University of Arizona. In her one year with the program, Spears made an immediate impact, where she had a hand in coaching all four events. Her contributions to the music and choreography on the floor exercise helped UNC rank No. 6 nationally in the event during the regular season.
"I very much appreciate the contributions Taylor made to our gymnastics team this past academic year," said Galvin. "I believe she has a bright coaching career ahead, and Arizona offered her a great opportunity to further her career while competing among the highly competitive teams in the PAC 12. I am confident she will be a tremendous asset to the gymnastics program at the University of Arizona. We wish her the very best and look forward to following her future accomplishments."
