Schechter Wins Four Winds Invitational on Symetra Tour

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Former Tar Heel Maia Schechter won the Four Winds Invitational for her first professional win on Sunday in South Bend, Indiana. Carolina alum Leslie Cloots tied for a 19th place finish at the Symetra Tour tournament. The course at the Blackthorn Golf Club featured a par-72, 6,475-yard course.

Coming into Sunday's final round, Schechter shot a combined five-under-par with rounds of 69 and 70. On the final day, Schechter carded six birdies, finishing 11-under-par and earn her first professional win. After recording a double-bogey in the first round, Schechter logged one bogey in the second round and totaled 16 birdies throughout the tournament.

After shooting five-under-par in the first round, Cloots shot 73 in the second round and 71 on the final day, logging four birdies in round three. Cloots carded eight bogies in round one, but was hindered by a bogey and double bogey. She followed up with five birdies in the final two rounds en route to a five under par finish.
The next Symetra Tour stop is The Forsyth Classic presented by the Decatur Park District June 15-17 in Decatur, Illinois.Â
