Datres Named ABCA/Rawlings All-America

The 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America teams were released by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods Saturday morning as North Carolina junior third baseman Kyle Datres was named to the third team.

Datres is one of ten student-athletes selected for All-America teams that are playing in the NCAA Div. I College World Series starting this weekend in Omaha. The Williamsport, Pa., native is a first team All-ACC member and was drafted in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft with the 366th pick of the Colorado Rockies. Datres has been a key piece of the Tar Heel's run to the College World Series as he leads the team batting average (.344), hits (86), doubles (15), stolen bases (12) and is second in runs scored (65).

First recognized in 1949, the ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans are selected by the ABCA All- America Committee. The Chair of the committee is Tommy Raffo of Arkansas State University. Also on the committee are Dean Ehehalt (Monmouth University), Brian O'Connor (Virginia), Butch Thompson (Auburn), Jim Penders (Connecticut), Steve Jaksa (Central Michigan), Dan Heefner (Dallas Baptist) and George Horton (Oregon).
