Murphy Named To Wuerffel Watch List
July 26, 2018 | Football
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. --- The Wuerffel Trophy announced its Watch List Thursday of 106 players from college football's Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), and North Carolina senior deep snapper Kyle Murphy is among those under consideration.
The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented annually at the All Sports Association's Awards Banquet in Fort Walton Beach. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
Murphy enters his fourth season of handling snapping duties on extra point and field goal attempts in 2018. The Charlotte, North Carolina, product is also a leader in the community for the Tar Heels, actively participating in a number of outreach programs throughout his time at UNC. Among his many activities, Murphy coordinates the student-athlete pen pal program that connects members of all 28 sport programs with local elementary school students.Â
