Three Former Tar Heels Set to Compete in LPGA Qualifying Tournament

CHAPEL HILL – Former Tar Heels Bryana Nguyen, Rachel Jones and Catherine O'Donnell are part of the 340-player field set to compete at the LPGA Qualifying Tournament, Thursday to Sunday. Q-School Stage I takes place at Mission Hills Country Club's par 72, 6,639-yard Dinah and Palmer Courses in Rancho Mirage, California. Of the 340 players, a minimum of the top 60 players and ties will advance to Stage II Oct. 13-18 in Venice, Florida.

Nguyen is a 2018 graduate of UNC. The Columbia, Maryland native started for Carolina in all but one tournament during her career. She finished her career with a 75.44 stroke average and a final season stroke average of 74.79.

Jones is a 2017 Tar Heel graduate who improved her stroke average to 78.00 as a senior. Jones has been playing professionally since graduating.

O'Donnell graduated from UNC in 2012 as a three-time All-ACC selection, 2009, 2010, 2011. She was voted 2009 ACC Freshman of the Year. O'Donnell was named PING Golfweek All-America Third Team in 2011 and Honorable Mention in 2009. Additionally, she was named to NGCA All-East Region Team and NGCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2011.
