Roy Williams Hosts 14th Annual Fastbreak vs. Cancer Breakfast
September 19, 2018 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL—The 14th annual Fastbreak vs. Cancer Breakfast hosted by University of North Carolina head men's basketball coach Roy Williams is Tuesday, September 25th at the Dean E. Smith Center.
The event has raised more than $2.5 million for research at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of the nation's leading cancer centers and the only public National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in North Carolina.
Registration for the 2018 breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., with the breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Former UNC football coach Mack Brown, a member of the National Football Foundation's College Hall of Fame Class of 2018, is this year's keynote speaker.
Tickets are $100 – all proceeds go the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center. You may purchase tickets in advance at unclineberger.org/fastbreak.
"Every person knows someone in their lives who has been touched by cancer," says Williams. "It's had an impact on my family and closest friends, it's something we want to beat badly and the incredible researchers and doctors at UNC Lineberger are making great strides towards doing that. Please join us at the Fastbreak Breakfast and by participating in the auctions."
The event also includes live and silent auctions featuring signed memorabilia, tickets and exclusive Carolina Athletics-related experiences. Following the event, an online auction will begin at 10 a.m. at unclineberger.org/fastbreak. The online auction will run from 10 a.m. on the 25th to 7 p.m. on October 12, 2018.
Raffle tickets are pre-sold on the web site, with the winner's name drawn at the breakfast (do not need to be present to win the raffle). This year's raffle prize is a meet-and-greet with the 2018-19 basketball team.
