CHAPEL HILL --- Billy High has joined the North Carolina football staff as director of football recruiting and assistant athletics director, head coach Mack Brown announced Monday. High comes to Carolina after serving in the same role at Auburn.
High oversaw the player personnel and on-campus recruiting departments while at Auburn, where he spent two seasons. Prior to Auburn, High spent one season as a defensive quality control coach at Eastern Kentucky and four years as a teacher and assistant coach at the Christian Academy of Knoxville. A 2012 graduate of the University of Tennessee, High got his start in college athletics in spring of 2009 when he served as a recruiting intern with the Vols. He also received his master's in teacher education from UT in 2015.
"Billy High is one of the best young recruiting minds in college football," Brown said. "His background as a teacher, coach and athletics administrator has uniquely prepared him to lead our recruiting efforts at Carolina. His system of identification and evaluation, along with his marketing and customer service skills, combined with all the things that make this University and this football program so special will help us achieve our goals of winning championships with great players from North Carolina and beyond."
