CHAPEL HILL ---Â Maurice Sims has joined the North Carolina football staff as assistant strength and conditioning coach, head coach Mack Brown announced Tuesday. Sims comes to Chapel Hill from Army West Point, where he worked alongside new UNC head strength and conditioning coach Brian Hess for two seasons.
In addition to his time with the Black Knights, Sims has ties to the state of North Carolina from his stint as the associate director of strength and conditioning at N.C. A&T. A 2010 graduate of UT-Chattanooga, Sims also spent time at Indiana and Bethune-Cookman, where he received his master's in transformative leadership in 2012.
"Coach Mo's eye for detail, leadership and ability to build relationships with athletes will make him a cornerstone for our strength and conditioning program," Hess said. "I couldn't be happier to have him on my staff and part of the UNC athletic department."
