Tar Heels Head North To Battle Two Ranked Teams
October 11, 2019 | Field Hockey
The top-ranked North Carolina field hockey team hits the road this weekend for two games in New York, both against ranked teams.
Â
On Saturday at 1 p.m., the Tar Heels (10-0, 3-0 ACC) take on No. 14 Syracuse (8-3, 1-1 ACC) at J.S. Coyne Stadium in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup that will air live on ACC Network Extra.
Â
After the game, they'll bus the 150 or so miles to Albany, where they'll face the No. 21 UAlbany Great Danes (9-3) on Sunday. Game time at Alumni Turf is 1 p.m.
Â
The matchup with the Orange will be the Tar Heels' first game in over a week, dating back to a 2-0 win over then-No. 2 Duke on Oct. 4. The Albany game will mark the first time this season the Tar Heels will play on back-to-back days.
Â
The last time UNC traveled north for this same swing, in 2017, they won both games but in both cases needed extra time to do so: 3-2 OT at Syracuse on Sept. 23, 2017, and 2-1 OT at Albany the next day.
Â
After this weekend's travel, the Tar Heels make an in-state trip to play at Wake Forest on Oct. 18 then play their last four games of the regular season in Chapel Hill.
