Top-Ranked UNC Hosts No. 2 Duke Friday
October 3, 2019 | Field Hockey
A 1-vs-2 battle is on tap for Karen Shelton Stadium Friday when Duke visits Chapel Hill for a Atlantic Coast Conference field hockey matchup. The top-ranked Tar Heels come into the game 9-0 (2-0 ACC) while Duke is 8-1 (0-1). It's the first top-two meeting at Shelton Stadium, which is in its second season as the Tar Heels' home.
Game time is 4:30 p.m. and there is no charge for admission.
While both teams have high-powered offenses, they're also leading the league in defense: Duke has allowed just six goals in nine games this season, while UNC has allowed eight.
At halftime, UNC will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its 2009 NCAA Championship and the 30th anniversary of its 1989 Championship.
The first 250 fans will get free chips and salsa in celebration of National Taco Day, which is also on Friday.
