Tar Heels To Collect Toys For Tots At Ohio State Game On Dec. 4
November 28, 2019 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL—Carolina fans, you can help provide toys to thousands of Orange County children who would go without gifts this holiday season if not for the help of Orange County Toys for Tots.
On Wednesday, December 4, Carolina Basketball and Orange County Toys for Tots are teaming up to collect toys at the Dean E. Smith Center at the
Carolina-Ohio State game, which begins at 9:30 p.m.
Collection bins will be located at each entrance. All Carolina fans are encouraged to bring at least one new, unwrapped toy for a needy youngster in Orange County. Bring a new toy to make a child's day, and come cheer on the Tar Heels as they take on the Buckeyes in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
If you can't come to the game, toy donations can also be made directly online here.
Chapel Hill Transit is joining the effort to help Toys for Tots. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to 'fill the bus' at the Friday Center or Southern Village park and ride lots for the UNC-Ohio State game. If you are not using one of these park and rides, bring your toy(s) to the game and help fill the boxes located at the Smith Center.
Tar Heel Express shuttles will begin at 8 p.m. from the park-and-ride locations at the Friday Center, Airport Drive, Southern Village and Jones Ferry. Shuttles will also be available from the Carolina Coffee Shop at 138 East Franklin Street (no parking provided at this location). The shuttles will provide continuous and fully accessible service, running every 10 to 15 minutes between the park-and-rides and the Smith Center. The shuttles will operate for approximately 45 minutes following the game.
Shuttles drop off and pick up on Bowles Drive in front of the Smith Center. Shuttle are $5 for a roundtrip or $3 for a one-way ride.
Park-and-ride permits are not required during Tar Heel Express events.
