
Tar Heels To Host Spring Game On Saturday

Get ready for a day of football, family, fun and music when the University of North Carolina hosts the 2019 Carolina Football Spring Game presented by Bojangles' on Saturday, April 13 at 5 p.m. in Kenan Stadium. The Spring Game is free for all attendees. The all-day event will provide entertainment for fans of all ages thanks to a jam-packed schedule before and after you get your first glimpse of head coach Mack Brown and the 2019 Tar Heels.

Start your Spring Game Saturday off with the Tar Heel 10 Miler, which benefits the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA's We Build People Campaign. For all the information you need and to register, visit here.

At noon, you can really get your game day rolling thanks to our friends at Tailgate Guys Tailgating. The Tailgate Guys will have tents available to rent in the Kenan amphitheater adjacent to the Kenan Football Center Hall of Honor. They're offering two packages for the Spring Game – the Varsity Package for $300, which hosts up to 20 guests in a 10' x 10' tent, and the All-American Package for $850, which hosts up to 50 guests in a 20' x 20' tent. Over on Hooker Fields, the Carolina Union Activities Board is hosting the Jubilee Festival from noon to 5 p.m. The festival will consist of field activities such as bubble soccer, family friendly crafts including face paint and flower crowns as well as performances from local and student groups. The festival is free for students and the public.

Also at noon, you can start your progression through three athletic events leading up to the Spring Game. In the first contest, women's lacrosse welcomes Syracuse at the Lacrosse and Soccer Stadium, which leads into softball against Florida St. at 1 p.m. in Anderson Stadium. Men's lacrosse will also play Syracuse at 3 p.m. in the Lacrosse and Soccer Stadium.

The Spring Game Fan Fest, which will be held inside Kenan Stadium, is scheduled to open at 2:30 p.m. The Fan Fest has a plethora of activities for your family to enjoy in the build up to kickoff. You'll have the opportunity to meet and interact with members of our Carolina Football Family, while participating in interactive games for kids and adults. There will also be prize drawings throughout the two-hour window. A live DJ will be on hand as will Rameses and RJ, who will be available for photos. Concessions and Carolina football merchandise will be available for purchase. Â

Then, at 5 p.m., all attention will transition to the Spring Game in Kenan Stadium, where you will have a chance to watch your favorite Tar Heels as they conclude five weeks of practice.Â

If that wasn't enough, Grammy-nominated R&B artist 6LACK (pronounced black) will be performing at Carmichael Arena at 7 p.m. Doors for the show will open at 6:30 p.m. Concert tickets are being sold at the Carolina Union Box Office and online at tinyurl.com/uncjubilee2019. As of today, tickets are only available to students, but they'll go on sale to the general public on March 18.

6LACK is best known for his song "PRBLMS" on his debut album, as well as his song with J. Cole "Pretty Little Fears." Raised in East Atlanta, much of his inspiration comes from the area. His album, FREE 6LACK, was nominated at the 2018 Grammys for Best Urban Contemporary Album. The up-and-coming artist RETRO will be the opening act for 6LACK.

- Warm-ups begin at 4:15 p.m. (46 minutes on the game clock)
- Team clears the field at 4:46 p.m. (15 minutes on the game clock)
- Team entrance at 4:57:30 p.m. (3:30 minutes on the game clock)
- Kickoff at 5:01 p.m.
- 60-70 play scrimmage (30-35 plays per half)
- 15-minute half time (Enjoy the Punt, Pass & Kick student competition finals)Â
- Score will be kept based on which end zone the team scores in:
- If a team scores in the 'Carolina' end zone, those points are for 'Carolina.'
- If a team scores in the 'Tar Heels' end zone, the points are for 'Tar Heels.'
- Same scoring premise for field goals.
- If there is a defensive touchdown, whichever end zone the points are scored in will count for that team.
