Tar Heels Finish No. 3 In Final AP Poll

CAROLINA AND THE ASSOCIATED PRESS POLL
• Carolina is No. 3 in the nation in the final 2018-19 Associated Press poll (which was released today)
• This is Carolina's 38th top-10 finish in the 71-year history of the AP poll (the Tar Heels have finished in the top 10 38 times and outside the top 10 in 33 seasons)
• This is Carolina's highest finish since 2016 (also No. 3)
• It is Carolina's 25th top-5 finish and 12th top-3 finish in the AP poll
• It is Roy Williams' 20th top-10 finish in 31 seasons as a head coach (11 in 16 years at Carolina) and 15th top-five (eight at UNC)
• Today's poll is the 100th consecutive in which the Associated Press has ranked the Tar Heels in the top 25
• Today's poll is the 916th all-time in which the Associated Press has ranked UNC in the top 20 or top 25, most in college basketball history (it is the 681st time in 916 polls the Tar Heels are ranked in the top 10)
• To date this season, Carolina has played the No. 1 (Duke, three times), No. 2 (Virginia), No. 4 (Gonzaga), No. 7 (Kentucky), No. 8 (Michigan), No. 10 (Florida State), No. 16 (Virginia Tech) and No. 19 (Wofford) ranked teams in the final poll. The Tar Heels also played three other teams (UCLA, NC State and Louisville) that were ranked in the AP poll at the time UNC played those teams.
