CHAPEL HILL, NC — Khazia Hislop was named Second Team All America on floor for the 2019 regular season by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association on Wednesday, March 27. This was the second consecutive year that Hislop has been awarded Second Team All America on floor by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association.
"We are very excited & pleased for Khazia that she has been named a 2019 Regular Season All America on Floor Exercise," said North Carolina head coach Derek Galvin. "Khazia also earned All America recognition on Floor Exercise in 2018. Khazia's accomplishment marks the Tar Heel's 5th All America recognition on Floor Exercise over the past 16 years."
Hislop finished the regular season (including the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships) with a national qualifying score of 9.925. She is tied at the No. 16 spot in the country. Hislop has remained one of the top gymnasts in the country on floor for the last two years. She has scored above a 9.850 for 20-consecutive weeks on floor exercise.
Hislop joins Tar Heel legend Courtney Bumpers as the only gymnasts in program history to earn All America honors twice on floor. Bumpers was named First Team All America on floor in 2004 and 2005. Hislop's two times, Bumpers two times, and former Carolina gymnast Christine Robella (2006) make up the Tar Heel's five All America honors over the last 16 years.
Next up for Hislop and teammate Mikayla Robinson is the 2019 NCAA Women's Gymnastics National Championships. Hislop and Robinson will compete in the Athens Regional from April 4-6. Both Tar Heels will compete on vault, and Hislop will additionally compete on beam and floor.
