Carolina Heads To BC For Final Road Game Tuesday

GAME 30 NOTEBOOK
• North Carolina will play at Boston College on Tuesday night in the Tar Heels' final road game of the 2018-19 season. Raycom will televise the game regionally,
• The Tar Heels enter the final week of the regular season 24-5 overall, 14-2 in the ACC. UNC is tied for first in the ACC with Virginia.
• Carolina is 8-0 in ACC road games. In 2018, Virginia became the first ACC school to go 9-0 on the road in league play.
• Carolina is 10-1 on the road this year. This is the eighth time UNC has won 10 or more road games in a season (12 in 1924, 11 in 1935, 14 in 1946, 11 in 1976, 11 in 1987, 10 in 1993, 13 in 2007 and 10 thus far in 2019).
• Carolina is the only team in the Atlantic Coast, American, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12 or Southeastern Conferences with 10 road wins.
• Carolina is No. 3 in the AP poll, the Tar Heels' highest ranking this season. It's UNC's highest ranking since week 4 in the 2016-17 season.
• Carolina is assured of a top-three finish in the ACC for the 57th time in 65 seasons and a double bye in the 2019 ACC Tournament in Charlotte.
• The Tar Heels have won 12 of their last 13 ACC games, their best stretch in conference play since 2013-14, when they won 13 of 14 games.
• Carolina is No. 7 in the NCAA's NET rankings and is 8-5 in Q1 games. All five of UNC's losses are to Quadrant 1 teams. The NCAA rates Carolina's strength of schedule as the fourth-hardest in the country behind Kansas, Duke and Penn State.
• Coby White scored 62 points in the last two games (34 vs. Syracuse, 28 at Clemson). That's the most points in consecutive games by a Tar Heel freshman since Tyler Hansbrough scored 65 points (40 vs. Georgia Tech, 25 vs. Miami) in 2006. The UNC record for freshman scoring in three straight games is 82 points by Hansbrough. White's 62 points were the most in back-to-back game by any player since Hansbrough scored 62 against Clemson and Virginia in 2008.
• White won ACC Player (and Rookie) of the Week honors for his play last week. He joins Cameron Johnson and Luke Maye in winning ACC Player of the Week honors this year. UNC is the only school this season with three different players to win ACC Player of the Week honors.

UNC-BOSTON COLLEGE SERIES
• Carolina leads the series with Boston College, 17-5, including 15-4 since the Eagles joined the ACC.
• The Tar Heels are 7-1 against BC in Conte Forum.
• The Tar Heels have won the last 11 games and the 15 of the last 17 against the Eagles.
• Roy Williams is 15-4 against Boston College (all while head coach at UNC).

• The Tar Heels came into the game No. 3 in the country in rebounds and rebound margin and out-rebounded the Eagles, 58-23.
• The 58 rebounds, 23 offensive rebounds and +35 rebound margin were season highs.
• Carolina grabbed 23 offensive rebounds that led to 24 second-chance points; the Eagles had 15 defensive rebounds.
• Carolina had first-half scoring runs of 16-0 and 10-0 and a second-half run of 13-0.
• Cameron Johnson made his first start as a Tar Heel.
• Luke Maye had career highs in points (32), rebounds (18), field goals (13) and tied his career high with four three-pointers.
• Johnson had his second career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and added five assists with no turnovers. He tied his career high with 11 rebounds.

BEATING NO. 1
• Carolina's 88-72 win at Duke was the 14th time UNC has knocked off the No. 1 team in the nation in the AP poll. That is more wins over No. 1 than any other school in college basketball history. Only three schools have won 10 or more – UNC, UCLA (12) and Maryland (10).
• Eight of UNC's 14 wins have come against Duke, including four in Cameron Indoor Stadium, three in the Smith Center and one in the Greensboro Coliseum.
• The win at Duke was the eighth by Roy Williams over AP No. 1, the most of any coach in college basketball history. Gary Williams is second with seven. Dean Smith, Digger Phelps and Mike Krzyzewski have six.

ROY'S REMARKABLE ROAD SUCCESS
• Carolina is 8-0 on the road in ACC games this season. It is the eighth winning record in ACC road games in the last nine seasons and the 12th in Williams' 16 seasons as UNC's head coach.
• Carolina has posted winning road records in ACC play under Williams in: 2005 (6-2), 2006 (7-1), 2008 (8-0), 2009 (6-2), 2011 (6-2), 2012 (7-1), 2013 (5-4), 2014 (5-4), 2015 (6-3), 2016 (6-3), 2017 (5-4) and 2019 (8-0).
• This is the second time Williams has led UNC to at least eight ACC road wins (2008 and 2019).

• Carolina is No. 3 in the current (3/4) AP poll.
• Carolina is ranked in the AP poll for the 914th time, more than any other school in college basketball history.
• This is Carolina's sixth consecutive week in the top 10.
• No. 3 is UNC's highest ranking so far this season. This is the highest UNC ranking in the AP poll since week four in 2016-17 (also No. 3).
• This is the 98th consecutive AP poll in which the Tar Heels are ranked, dating back to mid-conference play in the 2013-14 season.
