George Earns First ACC Pitcher of the Week Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After an undefeated week in the circle, Hannah George was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week as announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office. This is George's first honor of her career and fifth for the Tar Heels in 2019.

After picking up her first ranked win of her career last Monday vs. then-ranked No. 3 Florida State, freshman pitcher Hannah George began and ended her week with top-25 complete-game victories. George matched a single-game high of six strikeouts at Campbell on Wednesday. At No. 21 Virginia Tech, the freshman tossed two shutout innings of relief in game one Sunday. The Columbus, Georgia native capped off her week with her 11th win of the season against No. 21 Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon. George limited her opponents to a .186 average on the week, including a .133 average against the Hokies who were hitting .346 as a team prior to the weekend.
