GREENSBORO– Six North Carolina players led the way as the Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2019 All-ACC Team on Tuesday.
North Carolina and Boston College combined to place 11 total players on the first and second teams. The Tar Heels, who will enter this week's ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship as three-time defending champions, lead all schools with six total selections – three on the 16-member first team and three on the 12-member second team. The Eagles, who will host this week's Championship as the number one seed, had five total players selected and matched Notre Dame for most first-team selections with four.
Tar Heel goalie Taylor Moreno, attacker Jamie Ortega and defender Emma Trenchard earned First-Team All-ACC honors. Attacker Katie Hoeg, midfielder Gianna Bowe and defender Charlotte Sofield made the second team.
Senior attacker Sam Apuzzo, who led Boston College to an unbeaten regular season and a No. 1 national ranking, was the lone unanimous selection in voting by the league's head coaches. She leads the ACC in scoring (5.65 points per game) and total goals scored (71), ranks second in goals per game (4.18) and is among the league's top five in assists, game-winning goals and shots per game.
Syracuse equaled the Fighting Irish with four total selections, followed by Virginia and Virginia Tech with three each. Two players were selected from Duke and one from Louisville, as each of the ACC's eight women's lacrosse programs placed at least one student-athlete on the first or second team.

They are joined on the first team by Virginia midfielders Sammy Mueller and Maggie Jackson, Duke attacker Olivia Jenner, Syracuse attacker Emily Hawryshuk (the ACC leader in game-winning goals with six) and Virginia Tech midfielder Paige Petty.
