April 24, 2019 | Women's Golf
CHAPEL HILL - The University of North Carolina women's golf team was selected as the No. 9 seed in the NCAA East Lansing Regional as part of the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf Championship Wednesday evening.
ÂThe NCAA East Lansing Regional will be hosted by Michigan State University from May 6-8 at Forest Akers West Golf Course, which features a par-72, 6,412-yard set-up.
Â
Head coach Jan Mann has led the Tar Heels to an NCAA regional appearance in each of her ten seasons at Carolina, and this marks the 26th time in program history that the Tar Heels have reached an NCAA regional.
Â
Eighteen teams and six individuals will participate in each of the four regional tournaments to determine the championship field. The top six teams and three individuals who are not members of the qualifying schools from each of the four regions qualify for the 2019 NCAA Championship at the Blessings Golf Club, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, hosted by the University of Arkansas (May 17-22).
Â
Last season, the Tar Heels fell just two shots out of the six teams that advance to the NCAA Championship and finished ninth in the San Francisco Regional.
Â
In total, Carolina has qualified for the NCAA Championship 16 times in program history.
