Tar Heels Set To Honor Boyden At Sunday's Senior Day Match

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina men's tennis team will close out the home portion of the regular season Sunday by celebrating its lone senior, Blaine Boyden. The team hosts No. 22 Notre Dame at noon and will honor Boyden right after the doubles point and before the start of singles.

"Bo has meant so much to our program the last four years," UNC coach Sam Paul said of his senior. "He's a special young man. We're looking forward to Senior Day – it's a great day for him and his family."

Boyden, a business administration major from Raleigh, is a team captain and a recipient of the Atlantic Coast Conference Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship.

This season he's 15-3 in singles, playing mostly on Court 5, and 13-3 in doubles, playing mostly on Court 1 with William Blumberg. Ranked No. 34 nationally, the duo is 8-0 in ACC play.

During his UNC career Boyden has been part of UNC's first national championship (the 2016 ITA National Indoor Championship), the program's first No. 1 ranking (2016) and the Tar Heels' first NCAA runner-up finish (2017). Last season, UNC shared the ACC regular-season title after setting a program record for conference wins with 11.

UNC is 15-4 overall and 7-2 in ACC play. Notre Dame is 12-12 (3-6 ACC).

Sunday's match is the first part of a doubleheader with the UNC women, who host Wake Forest at 3 p.m. and will also be celebrating Senior Day. There will be free hotdogs and drinks for all fans, and drawings for prizes throughout the two matches. There is no charge for admission to Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
