Bergner and Sabato Sweep ACC Weekly Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.org) – North Carolina freshman Aaron Sabato has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while the Tar Heels' Austin Bergner earned Pitcher of the Week honors.

ACC baseball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a media panel and are announced each Monday throughout the regular season. This week's selections are UNC's first of the 2019 season.

Sabato collected 12 hits in North Carolina's five games last week while batting .600 and slugging 1.100. The Rye Brook, New York, native homered three times while driving in nine runs. Sabato, who had an on-base percentage of .667, has hit safely in each of his last six games and in eight of his previous nine.

Bergner allowed just two hits in eight shutout innings in the Tar Heels' win at Pitt on Saturday, walking just one batter while striking out seven. The right-hander from Windermere, Florida, retired 18 consecutive batters from the third through eighth innings while raising his record for the season to 5-0.
