Four Former Tar Heels To Compete in U.S. Senior Women’s Open

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – The second annual U.S. Senior Women's Open takes place Thursday, May 16 through 18 at par-71, 6,016-yard Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. After competing in the inaugural event in 2018, Donna Andrews '89, Cathy Johnston-Forbes '84 and Sally Austin '73 are back to compete in the second annual event while Susan Cohn '85 (née Hirsch) joins the trio for her first U.S. Senior Women's Open appearance.
Fans can watch the third and final round of the U.S. Senior Women's open on FS1 May 18 and 19 from 3-5 p.m.
Founding member of the Carolina women's golf team, Austin tees off Thursday at 7:30 a.m. from the 10th hole. She'll tee off from the first hole at 12:40 a.m. Friday. Austin qualified for the event by placing fourth on April 24, 2019 at the Country Club of Salisbury.
An LPGA victor in 1990 and three-time runner up on the LPGA tour, Johnston-Forbes begins the event from the first hole Thursday at 12:51 p.m. Friday, she tees off from 10 at 7:41 a.m. Johnston-Forbes made the cut at the inaugural event, finishing tied for 12th place, 299 (+7) at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois.
A second-team All-American and third place finisher at the 1989 NCAA Championship, Andrews is in the first group to tee off in the second annual U.S. Senior Women's Open, beginning Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at the first hole. Austin starts the second round at 12:40 p.m. Friday.
Qualifying at the Club at Eaglebrooke on April 23, in Lakeland, Florida, Cohn tees off at the first hole at 2:08 p.m. She will begin the second round on hole 10 Friday at 8:58 a.m.
