Pickett, Murray Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Carolina's Brittany Pickett and Leah Murray were named to the NFCA's Division I Southeast all-region teams as announced Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Pickett was named to the All-Region second team while Murray picked up third-team honors for the second consecutive year.

Inking her name atop the UNC record book with 12 career saves, Pickett earned NFCA second-team honors for the second time in her career. The three-time ACC Pitcher of the Week anchors Carolina's pitching staff with her third-straight 20-win season. With a 2.11 ERA, the junior has struck out an even 200 batters this season. Pickett has six shutouts to her name in 2019, limiting her opponents to a .214 average.

Carolina's all-time base stealer, Murray earned third-team all-region honors for the first time in her career. Batting .349 on 58 hits, UNC's leadoff hitter owns one of the best on-base percentages for the Tar Heels with .403. Murray leads the Tar Heels with 25 stolen bases. Moving to second base this season, Murray paves the way for Carolina with a team-high 111 assists in addition to 90 putouts. She owns 13 multi-hit games, in addition to a 15 game-hitting streak this season.
