Graham Selected ITA National Player To Watch For 2018-19
May 20, 2019 | Women's Tennis
Junior Alexa Graham of the North Carolina women's tennis team received the ITA National Player to Watch award for the 2018-19 season, announced Sunday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Graham, a native of Garden City, N.Y., is the second Carolina women's tennis player to earn this prestigious award, joining Hayley Carter who garnered her citation as a freshman in 2014.
Graham has been ranked inside the top 10 nationally in both singles and doubles since March. She is currently the seventh ranked singles player and a member of the No. 2 doubles team in the land with Aney.
Graham is 35-6 in singles throughout the 2018-19 season, and an impressive 24-3 in dual matches. She is 11-3 against top-50 ranked players and 5-1 versus the top 25.
In doubles, Aney and Graham have been nearly unbeatable all season by posting a 23-3 record. That mark includes a 22-3 slate at No. 1 doubles in duals.
Graham, a first-team All-ACC selection, will compete in both the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship beginning Monday. By virtue of being a national seed in both competitions, Graham has earned All-America status in both disciplines.
The Tar Heels advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Team Championship, having its season come to an end against Stanford on Saturday from the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
