Murray, Pickett, Ramsey Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Leah Murray, Brittany Pickett and Kiani Ramsey have been named to the All-ACC Academic Softball Team for strong academic and athletic performance for the 2019 season, the league announced Thursday. Three Tar Heels on the all-ACC academic team is the most for Carolina since 2014.

Wrapping up her collegiate career, Murray, a Huntersville, North Carolina native, graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science. An all-ACC second team and NFCA all-region third-team honoree, Murray finished her career atop the UNC stolen base leaderboard with 105 while also ranking seventh in batting average (.347) and hits (227). Carolina's leadoff batter, Murray led UNC with 27 stolen bases while hitting .344 on the season.

Earning her third ACC academic honor, Pickett is a rising senior from Indian Trail, North Carolina, pursuing a degree in Exercise and Sport Science. UNC's career saves record holder, Pickett led UNC's pitching staff with a 23 wins, 228 strikeouts and 2.02 ERA. An all-ACC first team and NFCA all-region second team honoree, Pickett slugged a team-best, seven home runs at the plate.

From Portland, Texas, Ramsey earned her second ACC academic honor and will graduate in August with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science. An all-ACC second team honoree, Ramsey led UNC's offense for the second consecutive season with 67 hits for a.364 average. With the second-best slugging percentage, .511, Ramsey slugged 11 doubles, five triples and two home runs with 28 RBI during her senior year.

Virginia Tech's Carrie Eberle was named the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Both Florida State and Louisville garnered five selections while Duke picked up four. Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech each had three. NC State, Pitt, Syracuse and Virginia picked up one each.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
