Carolina Opens ACC Play at Notre Dame, Louisville

CHAPEL HILL – Beginning ACC play against Notre Dame and Louisville for the second consecutive season, North Carolina travels north for the opening weekend in conference play, taking on the Irish Friday at 7 p.m. and the Cardinals Sunday at 1 p.m. Fans can watch both matches on ACCNX.
Recently for the Tar Heels (3-7)
Despite dropping a hard-fought four-set match to VCU on Friday night, the Tar Heels bounced back Saturday, picking up a pair of wins over Colgate, 3-1, and Radford, 3-0 for UNC's first sweep of the season.
Freshman Carly Peck and senior Mia Fradenburg were named to the Carolina Classic All-Tournament Team. Peck led Carolina's outsides with a .268 attack percentage on 26 kills. Fradenburg paced the Tar Heels with an even, 50 digs and five aces.
Redshirt-freshman Lauren Harrison set a match best with 17 kills vs. VCU and added 15 vs. Colgate. Freshman Parker Austin recorded her third double-double vs. Colgate with 12 kills and 20 digs. Running a 6-2, both Annabelle Archer and Hunter Atherton split time at setter, averaging 5.73 and 5.36 assists per set, respectively.
About Notre Dame (7-3)
Series: Notre Dame leads, 7-6 (UND won, 3-0 on Sept. 21, 2018 in Chapel Hill, N.C.)
With Big 10 wins over No. 18 Purdue and Michigan, Notre Dame begins ACC play at home after a split series with UM. Winning the past four home matches, Notre Dame is led by Charley Niego, Sydney Bent and Caroline Meuth each with 100+ kills. The Irish lead the ACC with 15.98 digs/set.
About RV Louisville (7-3)
Series: UNC leads, 8-5 (UL won, 3-2 on Sept. 23, 2018 in Chapel Hill, N.C.)
Receiving votes in the AVCA poll and ranked in both the RichKern poll and Pablo rankings, Louisville returns home to open conference play after four matches on the road to wrap up non-conference. Melanie McHenry leads the Cardinals with 119 kills while Alexis Hamilton totals a team-best 130 digs.
