Tar Heels Kick Off 2020 With Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge
January 10, 2020 | Track & Field
The University of North Carolina track & field program opens its 2020 indoor season on Saturday at home with the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge at Eddie Smith Field House. The Tar Heels' only home meet of the season, Saturday's competition marks the seventh edition of the meet — previously the Dick Taylor Carolina Cup.
Through the previous editions, Carolina's men's program took at least a share of first place six times while the women had four victories. Saturday will also mark the team's first competition under program director Chris Miltenberg who joined the Tar Heels in June after seven years at Stanford University.
The 2020 Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge will feature seven schools: Campbell, Duke, East Carolina, Hampton, High Point, North Carolina and UNC Greensboro.
Field competition is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. with track events beginning at 12:30 p.m.
