Tar Heels Open Home Season Sunday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina field hockey team plays at home Sunday for the first time in 2020, hosting Virginia at Karen Shelton Stadium for the first of back-to-back games. The Tar Heels and Cavaliers meet at noon, then play at the same time on Monday. Sunday's game counts in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings and Monday's does not.
No public admission is allowed to Shelton Stadium, but fans can watch live broadcasts of both games. Sunday's will be on ACC Network and Monday's game will be on the Regional Sports Networks. Click here for a list of stations carrying the game.
UNC is 2-1 overall and 1-1 in ACC play coming off a 4-0 win at Duke last Sunday.
Virginia is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in ACC play. The Cavaliers' last game was a 3-2 win over Syracuse in double OT last Sunday. Sunday is the team's first action away from Charlottesville.
After opening with three road games, this is the first of two consecutive weekends at home for the Tar Heels. After the Virginia doubleheader, UNC will host Syracuse on Oct. 16 then Duke on Oct. 18 for a non-conference matchup. Wake visits for a conference game on Oct. 30 to wrap up the regular season.
