PFF PERFORMERS
• According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Javonte Williams (91.9) and Michael Carter (88.2) graded out as the two best running backs across college football this past week. The Tar Heel tandem combined for 383 of the 399 rushing yards with Carter going for 214 yards and Williams having 169, both career-high totals.Â
• For the season, Williams is third nationally with a 90.4 overall offensive grade among running backs thus far in 2020, while Carter is 10th at 87.4.
• Michael Carter has been named to the PFF Team of the Week
• Carolina is ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll this week, while the Tar Heels sit No. 6 in the Amway Coaches Poll.
• UNC last played as the No. 5 team in the nation on Nov. 8, 1997. In one of the biggest contests in program history, No. 3 Florida State came away with a 20-3 victory over the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill.Â
• Carolina is one of five teams from the ACC ranked this week in the AP Top 25 - Clemson (1), Notre Dame (4), North Carolina (5), Miami (13) and Virginia Tech (23).

THROWING RECORDS OUT THE WINDOW
• Carolina and Virginia Tech flashed on offense all game long in what turned out to be a record-setting game by ACC standards.
• The 101 combined points were the most ever scored in a game that featured both conference teams ranked in the AP poll.
• The 56 points were the most UNC has ever scored against an AP-ranked opponent. The previous high was 45 on three occasions (No. 17 Pitt in 1974, No. 23 Boston College in 2008 and No. 25 Duke in 2014).
• Michael Carter averaged a school-record 12.6 yards per carry (214 yards on 17 attempts). The previous record for 15 or more attempts was by Gio Bernard, who averaged 11.4 vs. Virginia Tech in 2012 (262 yards on 23 carries).
HAMMERING THE HOKIES
• Carolina's 656 yards of total offense was the fifth highest total in school history and third most in an ACC game.Â
• The 656 yards are the second most ever allowed by Virginia Tech (Alabama gained 833 in 1973).
• UNC rushed for 399 yards, its highest total against an ACC opponent since 1988 against Duke (408) and most in any game since 1993 versus Ohio (432).
