Navy Rolls To A 12-2 Win In Game III Of The FWS

Chapel Hill, NC --Â Â The Navy team overcame an early 1-0 deficit to cruise to a 12-2 win in a game stopped in the top of the sixth by the mercy rule on Tuesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. The win was Navy's third straight in the Fall World Series.
Blue got on the board in the bottom of the first when Patrick Alvarez scored on a wild pitch. Hunter Stokely's RBI-double in the second tied the score at 1-1 before Justice Thompson's run-scoring single gave Blue its final lead of the game in the bottom of the second.
Navy picked up two more runs in the third when Danny Serretti scored on a wild pitch and Max Riemer's RBI-single gave Navy the lead for good at 3-2. A Caleb Roberts solo homer to right center in the fourth put Navy ahead 4-2.
Navy put the game away with a big five-run fifth inning. Hunter Stokely drove in a run with a single for the first run of the inning. Dallas Tessar plated two more runs with a double to left center. Caleb Roberts followed with a run-scoring single before Danny Serretti's double to right scored the fifth run of the inning. Navy scored three more in the sixth and final inning on Will Stewart's bases-loaded walk, a fielder's choice and Dallas Tessar's sacrifice fly for the final 12-2 margin.
Navy outhit Blue by an 11-3 margin. Caleb Roberts, Brett Centracchio and Hunter Stokely each went 2-4 at the plate and were the only players with multiple base hits. Stokely, Danny Serretti and Dallas Tessar each doubled, while Caleb Roberts homered.
A whopping ten men saw action on the mound in five and a half innings. Joseph Charles started for Navy, with Michael Oh, Kyle Blendinger and Cannon Pickell throwing in relief. Charles gave up both Navy runs. Michael Oh got the last out of the second before Kyle Blendinger threw two scoreless innings, giving up one hit while striking out two. Cannon Pickell finished things off with a 1-2-3 fifth inning.
Caleb Cozart started for Blue and completed two innings of work. Austin Elliott, Chris Joyner, Davis Palermo, Nik Pry and Kyle Mott all threw in relief.
The two teams will square off again on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Bosh.
