Navy Tops Blue 10-5 For Its Fourth Straight FWS Win

Chapel Hill, NC --Â The Navy team broke a 5-5 tie with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 10-5 over Blue on Wednesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. The win is the fourth in a row for Navy in the Fall World Series.
Blue took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Tomas Frick drove in the first run of the game with an RBI-single before a second run scored on a fielder's choice. Navy responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs. Brett Centracchio belted a two-run homer to right before Johnny Castagnozzi hit a solo shot to left center for a 3-2 lead.
Blue tied the score at 3-3 in the top of the third on Justice Thompson's solo homer to left center. Navy then picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. Max Troiani drove in a run with a single before Hunter Stokely plated a run with a safety squeeze bunt.
Blue tied the score with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Eric Grintz scored on a wild pitch, then Mikey Madej drove in a run with a single up the middle.
Navy then put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Three consecutive runs scored on bases-loaded walks. A fourth run scored on a bases-loaded passed ball before a Max Riemer sacrifice fly drove in the tenth and final run.
The game was essentially a staff day for both squads. Caden O'Brien, Michael Oh, Cannon Pickell, Gage Gillian, Tanner Quick and Nick James threw for Navy. Nik Pry, Shawn Rapp, Chris Joyner, Davis Palermo and Austin Elliott all saw action on the mound for Blue in the seven inning affair.
The two teams will play the final game of the FWS on Thursday afteroon at 3:30 p.m. at the Bosh.
