UNC Men #5 In Latest United Soccer Coaches Poll
October 20, 2020 | Men's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina men's soccer team is ranked fifth in the nation in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, released on Tuesday.
The Tar Heels dropped two spots from No. 3 in the poll last week after a 1-0 loss at then-No. 1 Wake Forest in overtime on Sunday night.
Pittsburgh took over as the No. 1 team in the nation from Wake Forest this week. The Panthers are 4-0-0 on the season as they grabbed the top spot in the men's top five. Previous No. 1 Wake Forest, dropped to No. 2 after suffering its first loss of the year. Clemson jumped into the poll at No. 3 after their win over the Demon Deacons while Kentucky and Carolina round out the top five.
UNC will return to action on Tuesday Oct. 27 at Clemson.
Due to the pandemic, only teams competing in the fall are considered for the fall rankings. The number of teams appearing in each ranking is also lower due to the lower number of teams competing. The men's poll consists of a Top Five national ranking. There are no regional rankings.
Complete rankings for both the men and women are below.
