Daniel To Compete In Pro Rugby Series This Weekend

Former Carolina Wrestling heavyweight Cory Daniel is officially continuing his athletic career, playing rugby in the World Tens Series with the SX10s Rugby Franchise, based out of Cape Town, South Africa. Daniel will compete in the series, which takes place in Bermuda, over the next two weekends.

"I'm incredibly excited for this opportunity," Daniel said. "I competed in a combine in August and received a contract. This team is one of the best in the world to play for, and I'm incredibly thankful that the coach believed in my athletic ability and background enough to offer me a spot… I know that I'll be ready to take on the challenge, especially with my wrestling background."

This series will be the inaugural event, with eight international teams participating. Full information on the event can be found here.

Daniel was a key part of head coach Coleman Scott's early team at Carolina. The Fulton, Maryland native qualified for NCAAs three times as a Tar Heel.
