Navy Takes A Narrow 3-2 Win On Friday Afternoon

Chapel Hill, NC --Â The Navy squad scored three runs in the third inning and held on to take a 3-2 win over Blue in a seven-inning game at Boshamer Stadium on Friday afternoon to take a 2-0 series lead in the Fall World Series.
Brett Centracchio ripped an RBI double to right center to give Navy a 1-0 lead in the third. One out later, Johnny Castagnozzi hit a two-run homer to left for a 3-0 lead. Tomas Frick pulled the Blue squad to within a run with a two-run homer in the sixth for what would prove to be the final 3-2 score.
Max Carlson started for Navy and picked up the win by giving up no runs and no hits while walking two men and striking out five in 4.0 innings. Connor Ollio started for Blue and gave up three runs in 4.0 innings. Tanner Quick, Nick James and Gage Gillian threw in relief for Navy. Nik Pry threw 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings for Blue while striking out four.
Johnny Castagnozzi led all batters with his 2-3 effort that included his two-run homer. Brett Centracchio's double was the only extra base hit.
Weather permitting, Game 3 will be played on Saturday morning.
