TAR HEELS AND DEMON DEACONS
• North Carolina and Wake Forest go head-to-head on the football field for the second year in a row, but for the first time in Chapel Hill since 2015.Â
• Last season, the game was a non-conference matchup between the two league rivals that took place in Winston-Salem, N.C. Wake held on for a 24-18 win that evening.Â
• The two in-state rivals met every season between 1919 and 2004 (minus 1943) until ACC expansion took hold in the mid-2000's.Â
• In 2015, Marquise Williams threw three TD passes to Mack Hollins and also rushed for a score in a 50-14 rout of Wake at Kenan Stadium.
• Carolina enjoys a commanding 42-18-2 edge in games played at home against Wake.Â
• The Tar Heels have won the last two games played in Kenan, the aforementioned game in 2015 and a 49-24 victory in 2011.Â
• The last setback for Carolina at home in the series came all the way back in 2006, a 24-17 win for Wake.Â
LAST TIME OUT
• Javonte Williams scored four first-half touchdowns and Sam Howell threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another score in steamrolling rival Duke in a 56-24 victory last Saturday afternoon.Â
• Wake Forest enjoyed an open weekend. Last time out, the Demon Deacons extended their winning streak to four games with a 38-14 victory at Syracuse on Halloween. Kenneth Walker completed his third three-touchdown game of the season against the Orange.
BROWN VS. WAKE FOREST
• Mack Brown is 9-3 all-time against Wake Forest. He went 8-2 against the Deacs as head coach at UNC between 1988-97. The Heels dropped the initial two games, before Brown's men ran off the next eight in the series.
• Brown defeated Wake, 27-25, in his first game as head coach in 1983 at the helm of Appalachian State. The game was played in Winston-Salem.
