Numerous Honors Come In For Howell
November 16, 2020 | Football
North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell had a game for the ages last Saturday and as a result has received numerous honors over the last few days.
Howell completed 32-of-45 passes and set school records in passing yards (550) and touchdown passes (6) as North Carolina rallied to a 59-53 victory over Wake Forest. Howell also rushed for a touchdown, one that sealed the come-from-behind victory for the Tar Heels.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation named Howell its offensive player of the week. He is the fourth Carolina player to earn the Walter Camp National Player of the Week honor since 2004, and the first since Mitch Trubisky in 2016.
The Davey O'Brien Foundation revealed on Monday that Howell's standout performance landed him on the O'Brien Great 8 list for week 11.
The Manning Award also placed Howell on its "Stars of the Week." Fans can go to the link below to vote for what they think is the best performance from this past weekend.
