Six Tar Heels Set To Wrestle At Juniors, U23s

Six members of the UNC Wrestling program will be competing this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska at the UWW Junior and U23 Nationals. The winners of each style in the event will qualify for the 2021 Senior World Team Trials and/or the 2021 Junior World Team Trials.

The following Tar Heels will compete in Omaha for the Tar Heel Wrestling Club:

Timothy Decatur (61kg) – junior men's freestyle
Sonny Santiago (70kg) – junior men's freestyle
Blah Dahnweih (79kg) – junior men's freestyle
Max Shaw (86kg) – junior men's freestyle

Clay Lautt (79kg) – u23 men's freestyle
Brandon Whitman (97kg) – u23 men's freestyle

For all six Tar Heels, this will be their first on-mat competition since the 2019-20 season.

Wrestling for both the junior and U23 competitions begins Saturday morning, running through the finals on Sunday afternoon. All information can be found here.

Session 5

2:30 PM to 5:00 PM - U23 Men's Freestyle and UWW Junior Freestyle
