Carolina Notes
• Carolina falls to 3-1 (2-1 at neutral site and 1-0 at home).
• The Tar Heels are now 22-4 in the Maui Invitational.
• Carolina is 4-3 in Maui championship games.
• Carolina is 4-1 all-time in Asheville.
• Carolina led 15-10 before Texas ran off 14 straight points. UNC trailed by 16 in the first half and 12 at the break before tying the game on a Caleb Love free throw with 3:54 to play. UNC took its first lead of the second half at 65-63 on a Garrison Brooks baseline jumper with 2:35 left, but that was UNC's last field goal of the game.
• Carolina missed its final four field goal attempts over the last 1:46.
• Leaky Black tied the game by making two free throws with 25 seconds remaining.
• Matt Coleman III made the winning jumper for Texas with 0.1 seconds to play.
• It was the first winning basket by the opponents with less than a second to play since Virginia's Tomas Woldetensae hit a three with 0.8 to play on 2/15/20.
• Brooks led UNC in scoring for the first time in four games this season with a season-high 18 points.
• Armando Bacot had his first double-double this season and the 12th of his career with 10 points and a season-high 12 boards.
• Carolina had only six assists on 24 baskets. The six assists are the fewest since the Tar Heels had six at Virginia on 12/8/19.
• The six assists equal the second fewest by a UNC team under Roy Williams.
• Carolina was 1 for 9 from three-point range. No starter made a three. Kerwin Walton made the only three for the Tar Heels.
• Twenty-five (25) of Carolina's points were second-chance points.Â
• UNC out-rebounded the Longhorns, 50-32. UNC had 20 offensive rebounds that led to the 25 second-chance points.
• In the first half, UNC had only one assist and 10 turnovers and went 5 for 13 from the line, including missing two front ends of 1 and 1s.
