Six Selected To AP All-ACC Football Teams
December 21, 2020 | Football
North Carolina football placed six players on the Associated Press All-ACC teams for the 2020 season. Dyami Brown, Michael Carter, Chazz Surratt and Javonte Williams landed on the first team, while Joshua Ezeudu and Sam Howell were placed on the second team.Â
Brown, the only wide receiver in UNC history with two 1,000-yard seasons, led the ACC with 1,099 receiving yards and scored eight touchdowns in his junior campaign. He was the only unanimous selection on the team.Â
Carter became just the eighth Tar Heel running back to post multiple 1,000-yard seasons with his team-leading 1,245 rushing yards as a senior. Carter scored 11 total touchdowns and averaged 151.6 all-purpose yards per game. His 7.98 yards per carry in 2020 broke Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice's mark of 7.2 that was set in Justice's freshman season of 1946.
Surratt led Carolina's defense in tackles once again this season with 91 total stops and added six sacks and 7.5 TFLs.Â
Williams was the other half of UNC's dynamic backfield duo alongside Carter. Williams set a program record with 22 touchdowns and has rushed for 1,140 yards in his junior season.
Ezeudu helped anchor an offensive line that has been vital to Carolina setting a new program standard by averaging 556.6 yards of total offense per game, and put up 43.0 points per game. According to Pro Football Focus, Ezeudu's 77.8 pass blocking grade is the top figure among UNC's starting lineman.Â
Howell has tossed 27 touchdowns and averages 304.7 passing yards per game in his sophomore season.Â
