UNC Women's Swim and Dive and Men's Dive Teams Head to ACC Championships

The North Carolina women's swim and dive and men's dive teams travel to Greensboro this week to compete in the ACC Championships Wednesday, February 19, through Saturday, February 22. The meet will take place at Greensboro Aquatic Center with various parking lots, hotels, and restaurants in the area. Admission will be free of charge.

Events Wednesday cover the men's 3-meter diving, women's 1-meter diving, women's 200 medley relay and women's 800 freestyle relay. UNC's women ended the season ranked sixth and third in the relays, and Alex Hart and Fabian Stepinski enter the competition with men's top 10 performances in the 3-meter.

On Thursday, divers will compete in the women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter, and the women's swim team will race the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay. Again, Hart and Stepinski enter the meet with high rankings in the men's 1-meter, and diver Emily Grund enters in the top three for the women's 3-meter. Swimmers Caroline Hauder, Grace Countie and Emma Cole are also ranked top 10 in Thursday's events.

Friday's events include the men's platform competition as well as the women's 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 400 medley relay. Though the North Carolina divers do not compete in platform regularly, Bryan Allen is ranked competitively going into championships. For swimming on Friday, top 10 rankings include Brooke Perrotta, Lilly Higgs, Allie Reiter, Countie and Sophie Lindner.

Saturday will wrap up the meet with women's platform competition for diving and the women's 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle for swimming. Top 10 competitors on Saturday are Grund, ranked second, in platform diving and Lindner, Bryanna Cameron and Perrotta ranked top 10 in swimming.

North Carolina's women enter the championships no. 15 in the nation, as of the most recent CSCAA ranking. Last year, the Tar Heel women finished seventh out of 12 teams in the ACC Championships.
