Gray Named ACC Offensive Player Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina's Chris Gray has earned his second ACC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference Tuesday. This is the third weekly accolade for the Tar Heels.
Gray, a junior attackman from Wading River, N.Y., totaled nine points with one assist and a career-high, eight goals in the seventh-ranked Tar Heels' 17-10 win over No. 15 Johns Hopkins. Gray's performance led the ACC in goals (8) and points (9) through the weekend and doubled his goal total for the 2020 season. During his scoring series at Hopkins, Gray also contributed to three of the Tar Heels' five extra-man opportunity points (2g, 1a). Carolina leads the the NCAA in man-up offense this season, scoring on 14 of 18 chances for a success rate of 0.778.
A Tewaaraton Award Watch List member, Gray leads the conference in points per game (6.75) and goals per game (4.00) and ranks third in assists per game (2.75). He ranks third, ties for ninth and stands at 14th, respectively, in the NCAA in those same categories.
Syracuse's Drake Porter, a senior goalkeeper from Aurora, Ontario, received ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors after making 18 saves in the Orange's 9-7 win over No. 7 Army.
