Men's Tennis Wraps Up Play On Day 2 Of Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL—University of North Carolina players posted a 1-4 record in singles and a 1-2 mark in doubles in action at the Tar Heel Invitational on Monday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Anuj Watane picked up Carolina's only singles win, coming from behind to earn a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Tennessee's Joel Gamerov. Adam Neff, Logan Zapp, Peter Murphy and Mark Dillon all lost their singles matches.
William Blumberg and Neff won the Tar Heels' doubles match, beating Johannus Monday and Martim Prada of Tennessee, 7-6 (5). The pairs of Zapp and Watane and Murphy and senior Simon Soendergaard, respectlvely, lost their doubles matches.
Players from UNC, Tennessee, Charlotte and Wofford are taking part in the season kickoff action on the indoor courts from Jan. 10-12. The Tar Heel Invitational will resume on Tuesday in Chapel Hill.
Carolina's dual meet schedule will begin on January 24 in the ITA Kickoff against Northwestern.
