Carolina Heads North For Boston College and Syracuse Matchups

CHAPEL HILL – After a 2-0 weekend at home, the Carolina volleyball team heads north for two ACC road matches, first on Friday at Boston College, before traveling to New York for a Sunday match with Syracuse. First serve is 8 p.m. against the Eagles and 1 p.m. versus the Orange. Both matches will be streamed on ACCNX.

The Heels earned their first two ACC wins of the season, defeating Wake Forest 3-1 on Oct. 8 and sweeping Virginia Tech on Oct. 10. Carolina had an .433 attacking percentage against the Hokies, its best of the season, while holding them to eight points in both the first and third sets. The last time the Heels held an opponent to single digits in two sets of a match was previously Aug. 29, 2015, on the road versus Chicago State.
Nia Parker-Robinson led Carolina in kills in both matches, with 17 against Wake Forest and 18 against Virginia Tech. She has recorded double-digit kills in eleven straight games.

Freshman outside hitter Mabrey Shaffmaster was named the ACC Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after a career weekend, her first weekly honor. In two starts for Carolina against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, she averaged 3.43 kills and 3.86 digs. Shaffmaster totaled a combined 24 kills and 27 digs while hitting .400, committing just four errors in seven sets.
