Rowing Concludes Competition At The Rivanna Romp

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – The North Carolina women's rowing team finished its first official race of the season at the Rivanna Romp on Sunday afternoon. The Tar Heels fielded three boats in the Varsity 8+ race and four in the Varsity 4+ race. It was the first event with Head Coach Erin Neppel at the helm.

The 1V8+ boat finished 17th at 14:45.5, while the 3V8+ crossed the finish line 20th at 15:00.6. The 2V8+ rounded out the order with a 21st place finish at 15:02.0.

North Carolina's 1V4+ led the way with a 16th place finish at 16:15.6. The 3V4+ (17:13.3) and 4V4+ (17:21.8) finished 23rd and 24th while the 2V4+ placed 26th with a time of 17:23.3.

"Today was a nice way to end our fall season," said Head Coach Erin Neppel. "We are pleased with how the team carried themselves and how they attacked the racecourse. It's been a huge fall with many changes and hard work, and these guys have done everything we asked them to do. We talked about the next chapter of the Carolina Rowing story earlier in the day, and we feel like it was a great start. Looking forward to pressing on!"
