Pickett Accepts Invitation to 2022 USA Softball Women’s National Team Trials
November 29, 2021 | Softball
CHAPEL HILL – Former Carolina softball standout pitcher Brittany Pickett has been named one of the 45 athletes invited to participate in the 2022 USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Trials.
The trials will take place on Jan.1-6, 2022, at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Fla. Pickett will be competing for a spot on the 18-player roster that will compete at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Ala.
Pickett, UNC's career saves record holder (13), was a three-time All-ACC First-Team selection during her time in Chapel Hill from 2017-21. She finished her decorated collegiate career with a 2.35 ERA in 898 innings pitched with 746 strikeouts and 83 victories in the circle. At the plate, she had a .277 career-batting average, tallying 36 home runs, 94 RBIs, 18 doubles, drawing 99 walks and plating 54 runs.
"When I got the email, I couldn't believe it," Pickett said. "It's an honor to have just been chosen out of so many girls that have played or are still competing now at the college level. To go tryout next to some of the best is so exciting. I still hold myself to a standard that I can get out there and play right alongside them because that's exactly what I did at Carolina."
